Volunteers & Committees


The National Trust (ACT) depends heavily on the work of its members who carry out much of the Trust's activities in a voluntary capacity as Council and Committee members, and as volunteers in the Shop. The Committees of the Trust include:

EXECUTIVE Committee

The Executive Committee is responsible for monitoring the the management and financial affairs of the National Trust.  This includes overviewing the Trust's activities, establishing budgets, reviewing performance to budget and keeping the Council aware of financial issues.

Heritage Committee

The Heritage Committee has a panel of professionals with wide expertise in conservation, planning and heritage who act as a consultative and advisory pool for the National Trust on conservation and heritage issues which arise.

PROMOTIONS Committee

The Promotions' Committee coordinates activities for the members and volunteers of the Trust. They organise functions for new members to enable them to meet each other and learn about the activities of the Trust. Other regular functions are also organised to recognise the efforts of the Trust's volunteers.

COMMUNICAtIONs Committee

The Communications Committee is responsible for text publications of the Trust.

Tours Committee

The Committtee's role is to educate the community and National Trust members about the natural and cultural heritage in the ACT, Australia and overseas, and about the role of the National Trust.

The Trust runs an extensive local tours program aimed at giving members and the general public opportunities to visit places of natural and cultural heritage significance. The tours range from half day local walking tours, 1 day self-drive tours and longer tours to a variety of locations throughout Australia and the world.
